The new drought monitor was released on Thursday and despite some rain the past few days, the news isn't good. Several locations across the Ozarks including Springfield have been upgraded to severe drought while some of our western counties are now under extreme drought conditions. Joplin is now -9.63" below average on rainfall while Springfield now has a deficit of -3.18". Meanwhile, some of our Arkansas counties are doing a little better thanks to several rainfall events the past couple weeks. Harrison is now running a surplus of 2.38". The good news is that our weather pattern appears to be getting more active over the next week with several more opportunities for rain.
