Ozarks Food Harvest and Panera Bread are partnering for Empty Bowls 2017, an event to raise awareness for the issue of hunger while supporting the food bank's feeding programs.

People can make a donation to receive a bowl created by a local artist, as well as a meal of soup and bread. The fundraiser begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday and lasts until 8 p.m. at Panera Bread at 4100 S. Campbell Ave.

The empty bowls serve as a reminder of those struggling with hunger in southwest Missouri. All the money raised from this year’s event will support children, families and seniors in need.
