PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. -- Crews responded to a fire Sunday evening along Interstate 44 near St. Robert.
The Missouri Highway Patrol says the fire broke out around mile marker 167 after a car heading eastbound went off the road and crashed into a median. Then, the car became fully engulfed in flames.
State troopers say the driver wasn't hurt, but may have been driving under the influence. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The driver reportedly crashed into a median on I-44 earlier in the afternoon. The Highway Patrol says the driver first crashed into a median at mile marker 123 in Laclede County, but left the scene before officers arrived.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office and Highway Patrol are investigating the crash. KY3 viewer Aerial Brooks submitted multiple photos of the fire around 6 p.m.
The fiery crash caused traffic delays in both directions of I-44 earlier Sunday night.
