Food stamp recipients could soon see impact from government shutdown

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Due to the partial federal government shutdown, recipients of food stamps will get a February benefit in January.

Sam Baumann, a community health worker manager says recipients will need to budget your benefits to make sure it can last. Baumann says due to the shutdown, after February it is unclear about people receiving food stamps in March.

If you have verification pending on a food stamp case, it must be submitted by 11:59 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15 to or a FSD Resource Center.

If you need more help, Baumann recommends you reach out to your local food bank or contact the family support division for help locating other resources that may be helpful.
