Galloway Village approved as a Community Improvement District in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Springfield city council unanimously approved establishing a special taxing district for the Galloway neighborhood along south Lone Pine.

Some businesses owners in the area submitted a petition to create the district, governed by its own board of directors.

It will allow the new district to impose a sales tax up to one cent to pay for projects, including landscaping, additional parking and crosswalks, plus increased security services.

The tax would be on top of the current city sales tax.
