BLAIR OAKS, Mo. (Edited News Release) -- Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed an executive order Wednesday for the state to establish a school safety task force.

The order directs Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Missouri School Boards’ Association, and the Center for Education Safety, to develop a statewide strategic plan for school safety. The governor announced the task force at Blair Oaks High School Wednesday.

The school safety strategic plan will identify best-practices and adapt them to make Missouri-specific recommendations for schools and school districts. Additionally, the strategic plan will identify resources currently available through the Center for Education Safety and other organizations for schools and districts to use to better ensure their preparedness.
