A grand jury indicted the owner of a Springfield private investigation and security business on drug charges.

Tim A. Brenner, 46, faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance. That is a class D felony.

The Combined Ozarks Multi-Jurisdictional Enforcement Team (COMET) executed a narcotics search warrant at the Southern Missouri Judicial Services on May 24. The business is located at 1111 North Boonville Avenue. Investigators seized controlled substances, narcotics paraphernalia and electronic storage devices.

The business focuses on private investigation and security. The services include fire fraud investigation, surveillance and security, prisoner extradition and GPS ankle bracelets. It employs 130. The business believes it has been targeted unfairly. The business serves several counties in the Ozarks. The owner says he has a state permit to have those narcotics for training of K9 units.

"That's what was shocking about it," said Tim Brenner then. "We have a good relationship with the agencies here locally. It was shocking that they didn't just contact us and ask us about it before they served a search warrant on us, because even their canine units have been here in this building training before."

The Greene County Sheriff's Office booked him into the jail Friday.
