Stabbing of New York man in Lebanon, Mo. leads to 3-county chase

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A New York man is recovering from stab wounds after he was stabbed while pumping gas in Lebanon, Mo. The incident led to a high-speed chase on I-44 through three counties.

Police say the victim was pumping gas at the Express Stop. The suspect then stabbed him several times after a struggle. He then took off with his car. His injuries are not life-threatening.

He said a deputy started following the car in Conway when he spotted the stolen vehicle. The car chase ended in a collision at the intersection of National and McClernon Street. The Laclede County Sheriff said the chase started in Lebanon, lasting 55 miles. One person suffered moderate injuries involved in the collision.

The driver is being taken back to Lebanon to face charges.

The sheriff said there was a stolen vehicle from Greene County left in the parking lot. He said police are working on connecting the two cases.
