Jury acquits man from Cedar County for mother's death
A man from Cedar County who was charged with shooting and killing his mother nearly four years ago is clear of all charges.
A jury found Robert Molder not guilty of first-degree murder. Prosecutors tried to prove Molder shot his mother, Margaret, in September 2013. The probable cause statement against him said Molder originally told first responders that his mother shot herself. Before she died, the woman told hospital staff that her son shot her with a pistol, according to the probable cause statement.
Molder was charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
