LIST: Beaches, state parks closed in the Ozarks because of flooding
The rain the area has seen over the past couple of months continues to impact many areas, including some state parks.
At Pomme de Terre State Park, some roads are closed, part of the campground is flooded, and both beaches are closed.
And it doesn't sound like they'll be opening anytime soon according to Pomme de Terre State Park Superintendent Brian Miller, who said, "Right now, with the predictions we're seeing, it's a good chance that we won't be able to open the beaches until sometime after the 4th of July."
Having worked in state parks for over 20 years, he said this is a first for him.
"I've never seen a spring like this. I haven't been at this park that long, but from talking to people around here, they tell me that they really haven't seen a situation like this before."
But there is good news if you still want to head to Pomme de Terre.
"Our facilities are open. The marina's still open, and they're still doing the same thing they were all along," said Miller.
Miller added that he hopes people continue to come out to his state park (and other state parks) because, even though there's some closures and limited access in some cases, a lot of businesses within state parks rely on park-goers for their income.
The Department of Natural Resources reports several state parks and beaches closed because of flooding.
