Leigh's Lost and Found: featuring a lost Blue Heeler pup

In today's Leigh's Lost and Found report, we're featuring a possible pure bred Blue Heeler found dodging traffic here at Kansas Expressway and Walnut Lawn.

"It's a very busy intersection. They were able to hold her there until we could pick her up. She was running loose on Walnut Lawn, getting very close to Kansas Expressway so it wasn't a very good idea for her."

Shelter coordinator Josh Doss says the female dog is pretty young, only a year or two. She's very energetic and friendly.

She was found with a red collar on and she did have a microchip but the information isn't up to date. Her first owners gave her to another family who didn't send their information to the chip company.

Animal control says that's a crucial step every pet owner needs to take.

"This is an unfortunate case where the people who originally had her put everything in the computer but the person they gave her to never got it updated."

if you recognize this dog or you've lost a pet, call animal control at 417-833-3592. You can also check out their website to see pictures of all the animals currently there and to fill out an online lost pet form.
