Many Trump supporters travel many miles to see the president

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The line of people to see President Trump quickly grew around JQH Arena around midday Friday. Some even camped through the night for a prime spot in line.

There are people of all ages, many wearing Trump t-shirts and buttons.
People have their lawn chairs, water and snacks for the long wait. Many also brought umbrellas because of the chance of rain, but it's important to know that only the collapsible type of umbrellas are allowed in the arena.

The doors will open up at 2:10 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. rally. But these people wanted to make sure they could get inside and get a good spot. Those arriving early say it's a chance of a lifetime to see a president.

"Because we want to support our president," said Jamie Haggard of Springfield. "Oh man, he's the best president I've seen in my lifetime, and I was too young for (President) Reagan. So, best chance we get to see a president that wants to make our country better than what it's been."

It's important to know that Bear Boulevard, also known as Monroe, is westbound only through the visit. Harrison is eastbound only. Most other streets are shut down at the edge of campus. Those attending the rally are encouraged to park in Bear Park North on Cherry or Bear Park South on Holland Avenue. There are also several other lots available and you can learn more about parking on our website.
