REPUBLIC, Mo.-- Michael Pierce says he was not home the night his home was burglarized. However, he says the thieves came back three separate times in one night to steal his belongings.
He says they took his Harley motorcycle out of the garage, various tools, a tool box, and other things, and that the thieves kicked their way into his house, leaving behind a footprint on the back door.
He says Republic Police did all they could, but the thieves were determined to take what they wanted. Republic Police say they have not caught the thief, but do offer advice on how to keep you and your family safe from burglars.
Sgt. Frank Schreiber says if someone notices suspicious activity to give police a call and they will come to investigate it.
He recommends if you're going to be gone from your home long to make sure your home looks occupied by leaving lights on or using timers.
He also says to make sure trees and shrubs are well maintained as burglars utilize these overgrown plants as advantage to not be seen.
