The Shannon County Sheriff's Office and Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal shooting Saturday night near Birch Tree.

Saturday night around 8, deputies were called to a shooting along County Road 464, just northwest of Birch Tree.

Sheriff Darrin Brawley says the shooting involved two men of the same family.

He says at this time, the shooting appears to be justifiable homicide.

Brawley says that's because the man showed up at the home and began firing shots at the home.

The family didn’t want to talk on camera but tells us that the man fired several rounds from a shotgun that left holes all across the front of their mobile home.

The sheriff says the homeowner fired several shots back, hitting and killing the man.

No names have been released at this time, nor is anyone in custody.

The sheriff says an autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

More information will likely be released then.
