Man stabbed to death in Crocker, another man now charged with his murder
The Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney has charged Shawn Bommarito, 38, with Murder in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action related to the death of William Fancher of Crocker on late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
Mr. Fancher was found dead in his home by Crocker Police with his throat slit and stabbed on Saturday morning.
Bommarito is being held in the Pulaski County Jail in lieu of a $1 million bond. The case is still under investigation by the Crocker Police Department and the Division of Drug and Crime Control of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and additional charges may be filed.
The Probable Cause statement from police states that Fancher was making unwanted sexual advances toward Bommarito, and Bommarito did not like it.
Fancher's family say they are heartbroken and cannot believe the news.
"Unbelievable, I couldn't even believe it," Dennis Hedrick, cousin, said. "It just doesn't make sense."
Hedrick says the entire family is in shock but he is choosing to remember the good memories. The two grew up on family farms and Fancher would often wrangle chickens.
"His dad would make him collect the eggs, you know," Hedrick said.
Later in life, Fancher served in the Airforce.
Hedrick says he really enjoyed listening to him play guitar at family functions.
"He loved to play his guitar, and whenever we would get together that is what he would do," Hedrick said. "Sit around and play his guitar."
The family hopes to see justice for Fancher.
"I want them to investigate this and not let this go under the rug," Fancher said. "He wasn't a very important man to the world but he was to us and his family."
Fancher's sister tells KY3, funeral arrangements are still being made.
