JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri Treasurer's office is hosting an unclaimed property auction in Springfield.
The auction is both Tuesday and Wednesday at the University Plaza Hotel. The auction will begin at 9 a.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday, with daily previews beginning at 8 a.m. The treasurer also scheduled a preview from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
More than 2,000 items will go up for auction, including old coins and currency, stamps, jewelry, comic books, and signed sports memorabilia. Click HERE to see a preview of the items online. All auction items come from safe deposit boxes that have been turned over by financial institutions to the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office after five years of inactivity or no contact from the owner. All proceeds from the auction will be held in perpetuity until claimed by the rightful owners or their heirs.
Since taking office in January, Treasurer Fitzpatrick has returned nearly $30 million of Unclaimed Property, representing over 140,000 accounts. Unclaimed Property can be searched for and claimed by visiting ShowMeMoney.com.
