DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. - The search for a missing man ended in Douglas County Wednesday morning. Sheriff Chris Degase says the searchers found the body of Lance Loeber, 21, in an open field.
More than 100 volunteers showed up at at the Goodhope Church of the Nazarene to help with the search. Some of the volunteers came from as far away as Greene County.
Loeber was last seen walking into the woods near Goodhope nearly three weeks ago. His family didn't report him missing until seven days later after they hadn't heard from him, and then couldn't get a hold of him.
An autopsy will be done to determine how Loeber died.
Detectives are processing the scene, and tell us they have not ruled out foul play.
Sheriff Chris Degase says he is thankful for the support of the community. Many who could not participate in the search efforts brought food and water to those who were looking.
