More than 8,600 people lose power on hottest day of the year
Power was knocked out to more than 8,600 people in Republic, Aurora and Marionville Wednesday night, after an equipment malfunction at a substation, according to Liberty Utilities - Empire District.
It was originally reported that more than 7,300 people were without power in Republic alone. That number later jumped by nearly 1,300 to include Aurora and Marionville.
Crews spent the night bringing the lights, and air conditioners, back on line.
