New Goodwill store opens Thursday
A popular but cramped thrift store is making a move. Goodwill is soon opening two new locations. The first one, on West Bypass near Chestnut Expressway, opens Thursday morning.
"We've got name-brand stuff, and it's cheap," said Tina Caldwell, store manager.
The new Goodwill store is fully stocked with donations from around the region brought in for the special grand opening.
"We want them to feel like they're in a real store, not a thrift store, not your average thrift store that smells funky," Caldwell said.
"You won't find that here."
The shopping experience is set up to support a very special cause: help for those who'd like to work but have not found the opportunity.
"People that have disabilities. We have job coaches that work with them directly one-on-one to help them gain employment," Caldwell said.
The new store will be open for donation drop offs and shoppers starting Thursday at 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Caldwell said a second new store will open on Kansas and Battlefield in September. She said that is when the current store on battlefield and jefferson is slated to close.
