New indoor water park planned for Branson

A new attraction coming to Branson will be the largest indoor water park in the tourist town.

The new idea is making a big splash.

"From what we understand, this will be the largest indoor water park in Branson," The Branson Director of Planning and Development Joel Hornickel said.

Wild Bear Falls will be 50,000 square foot and owned by Westgate Resorts. It'll be located at the intersection of Roark Valley Road and Shephard of the Hills Expressway.

Hornickel says Branson is now offering more attractions specifically for families, and this new water park will add to that idea.

"We are seeing a lot more amusement type developments the last year or so. The Mountain Coaster opened last summer. We are seeing a new Branson Coaster on Highway 76 across from Walmart. Obviously, with Fritz's Adventure opening this past year, it's been a huge addition," Hornickel said.

Hornickel says the new developments are part of a plan to offer something for everyone.

"Yes, shows are a big part of Branson and hopefully will continue to be, but not everybody likes shows and families want different options," Hornickel said.

That's why families say they keep coming back to Branson.

"Every mile you go down, you'll see a new building every time you drive down it," Jake Mayberry said.

Hornickel says it'll be a while before they see plans for the building, but the park will be modeled after one in Pigeon Forge. Check out Wild Bear Falls Water Park in Pigeon Forge at this website: https://www.westgateresorts.com/hotels/tennessee/gatlinburg/westgate-smoky-mountain-resort/
