Officer-involved shooting kills one, injures deputy in Wright County, Mo.

The deceased has been identified as 58 year old James C. Pinkston of Norwood, Mo.

A man is dead and a deputy injured after an officer-involved shooting in Wright County, Mo. Friday.

The incident happened as the deputy served a search warrant at a home south of Mountain Grove. Investigators say the man showed a handgun. The deputy demanded him to put it down on the ground. Investigators say that is when he fired a shot at the deputy. The deputy fired shots back.

The man died at the scene. The deputy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Emergency crews took him to a Springfield hospital for surgery. The names of both have not been released.

Investigators say the scene included five Wright County deputies, a Mountain Grove police officer and two Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers.
