Online retailer giant Amazon will begin charging sales tax for customer purchases made in Missouri, the company announced on Tuesday.
Amazon spokeswoman Jill Kerr said a short statement by email that "Amazon will begin collecting sales tax in Missouri on Feb. 1, 2017."
The announcement adds Missouri to a growing list of states in which orders placed on amazon.com will include a sales tax.
Currently, Amazon dominates the business of online retail sales. As of 2016, the e-retailer reported more than 300 million active customer accounts worldwide.
