Overnight shooting at Springfield gas station sends man to hospital

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3/KSPR) - Springfield Police were called to the Kum and Go gas station on the corner of Glenstone and Grand early Tuesday morning with reports of shots fired.

Lieutenant Curt Ringgold with the Springfield Police Department said the incident started as a verbal altercation between two men. Things soon escalated when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other in the stomach. The man who was shot was taken to an area hospital. Lt. Ringgold said he is stable and his wound was not life threatening.

As for the man who fired the gun, he stayed at the gas station until police arrived. They later took him into custody.
