Ray Johnson forged knife blades and words at his blacksmith shop near West Plains. KY3's Ed Fillmer visited him in 1987 for a story on his handmade knives that soon became collectors items. Johnson also wrote poetry.

After Fillmer did this story, it went to NBC News and then CNN did a story. Silver Dollar City then hired Johnson and he was there for 30 years. Ray Johnson made thousands of knives that are today worth thousands of dollars. He died in July 2014 at age 74.
