Police investigate home invasion shooting in Rolla, Mo.

ROLLA, Mo. -- The Rolla Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a man Friday morning.

Officers responded shortly after midnight in the 100 block of South Elm Street. for a report of a disturbance in progress. Officers found the man shot inside a home. He remains in critical condition at the University of Missouri hospital.

Investigators say witnesses an unknown man showed up and entered the home without permission. They then told officers an altercation happened with one of the witnesses. During the altercation, one of the men shot the intruder with a .45 caliber pistol.

Investigators say this appears to be an unlawful entry situation. Police did not arrest anyone at the home.
