Police investigate deadly shooting in north Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Police are investigating a deadly shooting at a home in north Springfield Monday evening.

Officers responded to the home at Brower and Grant, just north of Chestnut Expressway around 5 p.m.

Investigators say the victim of the shooting died while at the hospital. Police have not identified him. Police do say the shooter is still on the loose.

Bill Smith has lived on Brower Street for more than a year.

"It's unfortunate but it happens," Smith said about the shooting.

Smith said he is surprised, since he hasn't seen many disturbances in the neighborhood. He said one shooting won't cause him to move from the area.

According to the Springfield Police Department, the Criminal Investigations Division plans to collect evidence at the scene throughout Monday night.
