Police identify victim of deadly shooting in west Springfield Monday night; shooter on the run

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Police have identified a man shot at a home in west Springfield Monday night who died overnight in the hospital.

Police say Anthony Correa, 27, of Springfield died from a gunshot wound. It happened at about 8:15 PM. A 911 caller told police Correa had been shot. He later died at a Springfield hospital. Investigators say the shooter remains on the run.

Homeowners say they are used to police activity in the neighborhood. One neighbor says he heard two gunshots and went outside to find Correa, who was apparently visiting the home at 2550 W. Mill Street, on the ground, with people trying to help him.
