SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- As a former volunteer coordinator for her church, Sharon Ellard knew something was missing when it came to her work in the community.
"I knew that what I was doing was not permanently helping," said Ellard. "So when I heard about something that sounded like it could be a permanent and systematic organized way to help, I wanted to see what I could contribute to that."
And that's exactly what the Prosper Springfield initiative has been set up to do.
"That is why this is how we solve it," Program Director, Francine Pratt said. "Because I work with the 300 plus organizations who are actually doing the work, and I help align them, I help them look at duplication, gaps, so that we're actually are creating systems to help people.. to really impact peoples lives... to help them move forward."
Last week they launched their newest tool to help... in their website portal.
Each section is organized into 5 categories that lead users to the exact web page and contact information they need to help them find exactly what they're looking for, as well as the most up-to-date information on what's being done to help within the community.
In all, providing a path to help that many who are in need, may be unsure of.
Pratt said, "it's designed to help people who want to help themselves, and just need a little extra hand."
