School leaders evacuate Glendale High School after smoke fills air

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- School leaders at Glendale High School evacuated students Wednesday afternoon after a smokey smell filled the air.

Springfield Public Schools spokesperson Stephen Hall says a fan malfunctioned in an air duct in the school library. It created the smoke in the school. However, the fan never caught fire.

Students returned to class shortly after the scare.

Hall says this is unrelated to an incident recently when smoke from a heating and air unit filled part of the school.
