The Missouri State Highway Patrol Dive Team has recovered the body of a man who they say drown at the Lake of the Ozarks while watching the Shootout boat race.

Troopers recovered the body of Sean Burgess, 23, of Peoria, Illinois, just before 11:00 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers say Burgess was last seen by friends and family laying on a large "maui mat" flotation device while watching the Shootout race.

According to their report, troopers say Burgess was not seen getting into the water, but was discovered to be missing by the group just before 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

Burgess was found in 37 feet of water.

Mid-County Fire Protection District and Missouri State Highway Patrol's Dive Team worked for hours to find Burgess.

The boat race was halted Saturday afternoon while crews searched for his body.
