Skating legend Scott Hamilton keynote speaker at FCA awards banquet in Branson

BRANSON, Mo. - It was an exciting night in Branson Thursday. Olympic Gold medalist Scott Hamilton was the keynote speaker at the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet at Chateau on the Lake.

Hamilton is a legendary figure skater. Back in 1984, he captivated the nation, winning gold in the Sarajevo Olympics. Skating in 1981, he won 16 consecutive national and world championships.

Hamilton also survived cancer and a brain tumor, which is part of his incredible story.

Thursday night's banquet was emceed by Ethan and Sara Forhetz. They honored the South Central Missouri FCA athletes of the Year, Tori Goostree from Wheaton High School for the female, and the Male Athlete of the Year., Jared Alverson from Exeter High School.

The Coach of the Year is Janell Embrey from Ava High School.
