Springfield firefighter heading east to help with hurricane rescue efforts

A member of the Springfield Fire Department is gearing up to help save people who may be trapped by flooding brought on by Hurricane Florence.

Captain Kris Tate is an expert in boat-based water rescues, and left for the east coast earlier this week. He's part of the urban search and rescue team Missouri Task Force 1.

Two other Springfield firefighters trained in helicopter search and rescue operations may be deploying soon, as well.
