Brewers at Springfield Brewing Company are riding high after taking home some prestigious hardware earlier this month.

SBC's Mayhem Marzen beat out 60 of 61 competitors from across the globe to capture the silver medal in the German-Style Maerzen category at the 2018 World Beer Cup.

The competition, held every two years, pits more than 2,500 brewers from 66 countries against one another as they vie for medals in 101 different beer style categories.

Mayhem has fared remarkably well on the international stage, breaking through with a gold at the WBC in 2014. SBC master brewer Asthon Lewis says the first medal was a thrill, but that it's been even sweeter the second time around.

"The first time we won an award in 2014 for that beer, it was really exciting. But honestly, the second time recently with our silver was a bigger deal because it's a repeat for the same beer," he says.

If you're looking to get your hands on a Mayhem, you may need to exercise a little bit of patience. The beer is one of SBC's fall seasonals, and is available from September - November.
