Sprinkler system puts out a fire in an apartment near MSU

SPRINGFIELD, Mo- A fire started in the living room of an apartment Thursday morning. The building is located in the 900 block of south Roanoke Avenue, west of the Missouri State University campus.

A battalion chief says the sprinkler system quickly extinguished the fire. Smoke detectors woke up the people inside the first floor unit, they escaped through the bedroom windows. No one was hurt.

No one else was evacuated from the apartment building which is new according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
