A grand jury in Ozark County has indicted Rebecca Ruud and Robert Peat Jr. on charges relating to the murder of 16-year-old Savannah Leckie.

Rudd, Leckie's mother, and Peat, Ruud's husband, are both with first and second degree murder, child abuse or neglect, tampering with evidence, and abandonment of a corpse.

Ruud has been in custody since August 21st and Peat turned himself in to authorities Wednesday afternoon.

Leckie was reported missing on July 20th. Ruud told everyone she believed her daughter ran away. Volunteers in the Theodosia area spent days searching for the teenager.

About two weeks later, investigators found human remains, consisting of bones and teeth in a burn pile on the property where Savannah lived with Ruud. Investigators through DNA confirmed those remains were Leckie's.
