Suspect, officer identified in officer-involved shooting in St. Clair County, Mo.

OSCEOLA, Mo. -- The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office released the name of a suspect and an officer involved in an officer involved shooting.

Shane Magoon, 47, of Lowry City, Mo. suffered critical injuries in the shooting. Deputy Dale Roberts did not suffer any injuries.

Investigators say around 3:30 p.m. Deputy Roberts attempted to pull over a car driven by Magoon for failing to yield The car stopped near Highway E and Highway A intersection. When the deputy made contact with the suspect, he noticed a weapon. Deputy Roberts told investigators he saw Magoon reach for the weapon. The deputy first shot his taser and missed. He then fired a shot, hitting Magoon.

The sheriff placed Deputy Roberts on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation. This case has been turned over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control.
