Authorities say suspicious box left in Christian County justice center was books
The Christian County Sheriff's Department says a suspicious package was a box of books.
The box of books was left in the sally port on the Second Street side of the justice center Monday night. It was about the size of a microwave and was taped shut. The bomb squad took x-rays of the package to make sure it was safe.
The incident led to officers closing the square. The sheriff's department had buses ready to move inmates away from the jail in case the package turned out to be dangerous. The action of the bomb squad was swift enough to not have to move them.
Officers say they took every precaution to make sure nobody was hurt.
