3 hospitalized after stabbings in Carthage, Mo.; officers arrest 1 for questioning

CARTHAGE, Mo. - Police in Carthage, Mo. are investigating a triple stabbing Sunday night.

Investigators say the victims suffered serious wounds. 60 year old Vincent Kimmel of Carthage is now charged with three counts each of 1st degree assault and armed criminal action, as well as 1st degree burglary.

Officers responded to the 800 block of West Chestnut in Carthage. An officer arriving to the neighborhood stopped a man walking down the street, who looked suspicious with blood on him. The officer took that man, Vincent Kimmel, into custody as he learned of the stabbings.
Multiple other 911 calls came in, as the three victims ran to neighboring houses for help.

"So really this whole area ended up with a lot of evidence, not to mention the suspect was on foot, and he left the area, so there's really just a lot of evidence on the ground, laying around and we want to make sure and do it right," said Chief Greg Dagnan of the Carthage Police Department.

Officers say the victims include Jared Brunner, 32, Whitney Dipley, 32, and Sloan Roberts, 36, all from Carthage. Bruner and Dipley remain in stable condition. Roberts remains in critical condition at a hospital in Springfield. Two other adults and two children were also in the home.

Police believe the victims and suspect knew each other. "We do know that they were all acquaintances. It seemed like the suspect was known to everyone in the house at some level. Now of course, with people undergoing surgeries and being in the hospital, we don't really have a full picture yet, because we've been unable to interview everyone," says Chief Dagnan.
