Truck carrying hot coal dust causes fires along U.S. Route 65 near Marshall, Ark.

SEARCY COUNTY, Ark. - The Searcy County sheriff says a trailer truck picked up a load of charcoal dust around 4 p.m. in Oxley Township, which is southeast of Marshall, in Searcy County. The driver did not know it, but it had hot spots in it.

About 30-40 fires are scattered along U.S. Route 65 from Leslie to Western Grove, which is about 35 miles long.

The Searcy County sheriff said they have every fire department in the county fighting them.

He said most of them are small grass fires, but a couple of them are getting bigger, and he said they may be fighting them until the end of the night.
No structures have burned.
