Traffic moves again after truck fire blocks traffic on U.S. 65

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A truck fire on U.S. 65 north of Springfield blocked traffic for a couple of hours on Wednesday morning.

The truck hauling an unknown load caught fire near mile marker 54 in the northbound lane, just north of the Interstate 44 interchange. The driver and a passenger escaped the fire without injury.

The effort to fight the fire and clean up the mess blocked both north bound lanes for about two hours. Crews opened up one lane of northbound traffic at about 6:30 a.m.

Fire crews say it does not appear the truck was carrying anything hazardous.
