MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- A Webster County man faces charges in the shooting of his girlfriend.
The shooting happened Sunday morning north of Rogersville.
Ronald Reese Collins, 28, faces an assault, kidnapping and armed criminal action charge in the shooting os his girlfriend.
Sheriff Roye Cole tells KY3 News Collins stated he and his girlfriend had been arguing all night. He then told deputies that she wanted to commit suicide, and he said he was holding her at gunpoint to keep her from doing so.
The sheriff says he told detectives the woman grabbed the gun from him and it went off.
Deputies say they realized his story wasn't adding up. They were able to communicate with the girlfriend in the hospital, and she could not speak due to her injuries. She was able to communicate to officers her boyfriend shot her.
The victim, 24, is in a Springfield hospital in very serious condition.
