WATCH: Bacon ice cream for your barbecue

Beth Taylor is an award winning barbecue competitor. Her team's name is "Eli's Pit Crew." Taylor's son has autism. Her family decided three years ago to start donating their winnings to the local charity, Stars For Autism.

Eli's Pit Crew "Maple Bacon Ice Cream" Yields 1 3/4 quarts
2 cups heavy cream
1 (14 oz. can) sweetened condensed milk
1 lb. bacon (fried extra crispy)
1 teaspoon maple extract

1. Beat heavy cream in a large bowl with mixer on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.

2. In a separate bowl combine sweetened condensed milk, bacon and maple extract.

3. Fold sweetened condensed mixture into whipping cream.

4. Pour in 9x13 pan or 2 quart container.

5. Cover and freeze at least 6 hours or until firm.

*Helpful Hints: Thinner bacon crisps better and provides a better texture. I usually whip cream to stiff peaks and then about 15 seconds longer, seems to hold the folding better. The

sweetened condensed milk is so thick it does take a while to fold in.

This recipe can be used for other types of ice cream. You can mix any toppings into the cream and sweetened condensed milk base, to create your own creation.
