Arkansas legislators on Tuesday approved changes to the state’s election laws, including restrictions outside polling places and on absentee ballots, that opponents said would disproportionately harm voters of color in the state.
Dr. Randall Williams, director of the state’s Department of Health and Senior Services, said in a news release that Missouri was taking the step out of “an abundance of caution.”
Restaurants have been operating at about half of their regular capacity for the last year and either laid off or lost most of their crews. With more customers allowed inside by the weekend that leaves servers, cooks and other workers spread thin.
Arkansas is one of three states without a hate crimes law, along with South Carolina and Wyoming. Hate crimes legislation is also advancing in South Carolina’s Legislature.
