The heat wave that has been roasting much of the U.S. in recent days is just getting warmed up, with temperatures expected to soar to dangerous levels through the weekend.
The National Weather Service reports severe amounts of rain, which is expected to lead to dangerous, life-threatening flooding that could last for several days, if not over a week in some areas.
Missouri officials say widespread flooding has cost an estimated $29 million in damages to roads and bridges, and dozens of other sites haven't even been evaluated yet.
