SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A judge sentenced a man for the death of his wife in late May of 2022 in Springfield.

Jacob Hodgkins, 32, of Springfield, entered a guilty plea of second-degree murder in the death of his wife, Ada Hodgkins, 42. A judge sentenced him to 28 years in prison.

Officers responded to Glenview Ave. to investigate a shooting. They found Ada Hodgkins with a gunshot wound. Investigators say Hodkins told emergency workers her husband shot her. She later died at a Springfield hospital. Investigators say a witness walking his dog heard the gunshot. The witness said he observed a man leaving the home. Investigators say he then heard a woman, Hodgkins, screaming.
