Candidate suspends campaign after being caught on camera stealing flyer from mailbox
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE/Gray News) - A Kentucky State Representative candidate has dropped out of the race days after a video surfaced appearing to show him taking a campaign flyer from a mailbox.
On Wednesday, Democrat Max Morley announced on social media that he is ending his campaign to replace Daniel Grossberg as the state representative for District 30.
The announcement came after Morley admitted to taking a campaign flyer out of a voter’s mailbox.

Morley posted the following statement announcing the end of his campaign:
“District 30 deserves a Representative they can trust and believe in. After much reflection, I have decided to end my campaign for State Representative.
Campaigns can be demanding and deeply personal, and along the way, I lost sight of what mattered most: serving our community with the focus, judgment, and integrity it deserves. For that, I sincerely apologize to those I disappointed or let down.
I am grateful to everyone who supported this campaign, volunteered their time, offered encouragement, and believed in me throughout this process. I am especially thankful for my family, and I am taking this time to focus on them and move forward privately."
With Morley’s exit, the Democratic primary field has narrowed down to Cassie Lyles and Mitra Subedi as candidates running against Rep. Grossberg.
The Kentucky Democratic Party had already called for Grossberg to resign after nine women had been making allegations of inappropriate conduct since July 2024.
The Kentucky Primary election takes place on May 19.
