Shaquille O’Neal graduates with his second master’s degree

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAVE/Gray News) — Shaquille O’Neal is adding another title to his name.

O’Neal graduated from Louisiana State University with his second master’s degree, a Master of Arts in liberal arts.

His thesis, “Interdisciplinary Approach to Mentorship through the lens of the epic poem ‘The Odyssey,’” focuses on strengthening mentorship, particularly for athletes.

O’Neal said he pursued the program after recognizing a need for more sports psychology leadership from people who have lived the experience, noting there are few high-level professional athletes and few former ones in that field.

He hopes combining academic training with firsthand perspective will help him better guide athletes working to reach and stay at the highest level.

The 7-foot-1 star also has a Bachelor of General Studies from LSU, an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a doctorate in education from Barry University.
