Fire claims barn, tractors, 200 bales of hay in Monett, Mo.
MONETT, Mo. (KY3) -Crews in Monett are asking the community for help following a barn fire Saturday morning.
According to the Monett Rural Fire District, crews were dispatched to a reported barn fire just before 8 a.m.
Once on scene, crews found a fully engulfed structure that was already collapsing. In addition, 200 hay bales were burning just north of the property.
Due to the extensive damage, crews said the cause of the fire has been classified as undetermined. The remaining hay bales are expected to continue burning over the next several days, and crews said smoke will remain visible in the surrounding area.

Crews said the farmer who owns the property has suffered a devastating loss following the fire. The 200 bales of hay were intended to feed his cattle through the winter. Two tractors, also destroyed, were used to feed and care for his livestock.
The fire district is asking for help from the community following the loss of property. Whether it’s giving hay, equipment, financial assistance, or other resources, crews ask you to contact them through Facebook Messenger or contact Chief Privett at 417-342-9912.
Monett City Fire, Purdy Fire, Pierce City Fire, Freistatt Fire, Aurora Rural Fire, Barry-Lawrence County Ambulance, and Lawrence County 911 Emergency Services assisted.
