U.S. Army Corps of Engineers opens spillways at Table Rock Dam, announce change in service hours

BRANSON, Mo. (Edited News Release/KY3) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, began spillway releases at Table Rock Dam near Branson on Monday morning. They also announced future adjustments in service hours.
The release began around 10:30 a.m. to help evacuate flood storage from recent rainfall.
According to the district, USACE will open five of the ten gates at one foot each, releasing around 6,500 cubic feet per second from the spillway as well as 9,000 cfs from the two power generation turbines for a total combined release of around 15,500 cfs.
The district said that this is considered a typical release when Table Rock Dam is evacuating flood storage.
The district also announced that it will be adjusting service hours temporarily at Table Rock Lake.
The adjustment will begin June 13.
The district said the adjustment is taking place due to staffing shortages, safety concerns, and to refocus available staff to support the peak recreation season.
According to the district, the Dewey Short Visitor Center hours will be reduced to Tuesday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Summer school groups and other special tour requests can still be made through email or phone.
The district said Shoreline Use Permit requests, including dock and vegetative management requests, will experience delays.
“The reduction in services will remain in effect until staffing levels improve and conditions allow for safe, sustainable operations,” the district said.
