Groundbreaking held Saturday for new temple in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Ground was broken Saturday morning for the new Springfield, Missouri, Temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Elder Aroldo Cavalcante from the United States Southeast Area Presidency presided over the event.
This temple will be the third dedicated house in the state, joining both Kansas City and St. Louis.
The location of the new temple will be on East Farm Road 188 and will have two instruction rooms, two sealing rooms, a baptistery, and a single central spire adorning the center of the building.
“The temple for our faith is the center of everything that we believe. We truly believe that the families that are binding the temple can be forever. So this is an everlasting covenant that we can make only in the temple,” said Cavalcante.
Missouri is currently home to more than 75,000 Latter-day Saints members.
